Kenya: Coast Health Facilities Congested

Coast provincial director of public health and sanitation Anisa Omar has said the dispensaries in the region are overwhelmed and cannot accommodate the high number of women giving birth in the facilities. Omar said the design of the existing dispensaries, most of which have only three delivering rooms, contributes to women giving birth at home which she described as a risk to their health.
